In this week's debate, Presidential candidate John McCain argued against the long-term gains made by children attending Head Start programs. In fact, the thousands of AFT members working in Head Start know about the difference Head Start makes in preparing children for success in school and life.
Fortunately, they are not the only ones who see it, which is why this program that remains one of America’s best investments continues to enjoy support among parents and in Congress. Head Start helps our youngest and most vulnerable children get the boost they need and is a forward-thinking investment in education that our country needs to support all of America’s children.
